February 2013

Pantone decides the colour of the year by communicating with designers and decorators to determine the trend colour for the year ahead. They have announced their Colour of the Year for 2013, Emerald Green, a lively, radiant, and lush green. Here are some inspirational images of this gorgeous colour.

1. Notebook by Moleskin, 2. Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair, 3. Murano glass chandelier, 4. Brabantia Bin, 5. Mulberry Hall Fish, 6. Le Creuset Casserole, 7. Donna Wilson Birds Nest Plate, 8. Ting Seat Belt Cube

Here are a few pictures of the completed projects I have been working on this month.

Remember the colour proportion design rule is 70-20-10. 70% of your room should be in one colour (floor, walls and ceiling), 20% should be the second colour (curtains and furniture) and 10% (cushions, lamps, accessories etc).

Three easy steps to create a colour scheme

  • Find an inspiration piece in the room that will help you decide your colour scheme.  It can be anything from artwork, a rug or an upholstered chair.
  • Pick 3 or 4 colours from your inspiration piece that will become your colour scheme.
  • Remember colour proportion rule is 70/20/10 for three colours or 60/20/10/10 for four colours.

January 2013

Welcome to my new blog!

I’ll be sharing design tips and inspiration for creating wonderful homes for you and your family.  I shall be updating you with projects that have been completed, along with the latest fabric designs and accessory items that I love.

I visited the Interiors UK 2013 exhibition at the Birmingham NEC for a preview of the latest interior furnishings, trends and products that were on display. The show was held over three days and the NEC halls had some beautiful interior furniture and accessories. Here are some of my photos from the exhibition.

Please participate by reading, sharing and commenting. Let me know what subjects interest you. Send in your design questions and I shall do my best to answer them (really!).

Thanks for visiting!
